How the site is funded
This site shows no ads. It is funded through affiliate links: some links to stores are affiliate links. If you make a purchase after clicking one of them, the store or its affiliate network may pay us a commission. It costs you nothing extra: the price is the store's own. These links are marked as sponsored for search engines.
As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.
What commission does not change
- No brand or retailer pays to appear on the site or to rank higher.
- Our scores and rankings are calculated by our code, using the same criteria for every model. Neither the presence of an affiliate link nor the commission amount affects this calculation.
What affiliate links change, and what we want you to know
- On a product page, if at least one retailer offers the model through an affiliate link, only affiliate links are displayed.
- Retailer buttons appear in this order: Amazon first if it offers the model, then by recorded price from lowest to highest; when prices are equal, the retailer paying the highest commission comes first.
- A model that no retailer offers is removed from our lists and filters, unless its page states that an offer in your country is still being sought or could not be found; its page stays online. On a page with no offers, the alternative we suggest is chosen from models with a retailer link, with the highest-rated model first.
Analyses, not tests
We do not physically test products. Our reviews are analyses: we gather manufacturers' specifications, retailer listings and published customer feedback, then compare them using the same criteria.
How products are ranked
These are the rules our code uses to rank products, as they apply today.
- Our rankings cover the 8 models we have analysed out of 204 models identified: they do not cover the whole market.
- In the full model list and on selection pages (by use, brand or budget, with “Relevance” selected), models whose scores are based on enough documented criteria (high or medium confidence) appear first; within that group, then among the remaining models, the default order is by overall score, highest to lowest, using the score shown on each card; ties are broken by the number of documented criteria, highest first, then alphabetically; models without a score appear last.
- The “Our pick” and “Best pick” labels, and first place in a top-three ranking, are reserved for models whose scores are based on enough documented criteria (high or medium confidence).
- The overall score is the equally weighted average of the scores for our criteria: Rated power, Battery capacity, Weight, Number of 230 V sockets, Equipment. A criterion with missing data is not scored and is excluded from the average.
- You can choose a different sort order for lists: highest rated, price low to high or high to low, newest.
- The featured “top picks” are the highest-rated models among those with high or medium confidence ratings.
Where we use artificial intelligence
- Text: AI helps us read manufacturer specifications and retailer pages, and write analyses and guides. A disclosure appears at the bottom of each page and at the start of each guide.
- Scores: our code calculates them from each model's documented specifications, compared with those of other models in the catalogue; each product page explains its scores.
- Images: images in product page galleries are AI-generated from retailer photos to present models consistently. A small disclosure appears below the gallery and when you hover over each relevant image. A generated image may differ from the product in some details: the retailer's photos and description are authoritative.
- Summarize with AI: this button opens your chosen assistant (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok) with the page URL. The response comes from that service, not us, and may contain errors.
